We believe that designing labels is FUN! Hey, that’s why we got into this biz in the first place!

We also understand that it can be a little daunting, particularly for those who are brand new to the world of label design.

How do we know this? Because we have been there before!

Before Jes started Long Story Short Design and Print (LSS for short), she ran her own successful candle business! And after months of practice, and multiple rounds of trial and error she became completely confident with her candle-making prowess. Wick types? Easy. Pouring temperatures? Like the back of her hand.

But label design?

Jes admits she was a bit clueless. Logo? Artwork files? CMYK? It was like learning a foreign language.

Yet once she got the design ball rolling, she realised just how fun and easy it can be – which is one of the reasons why Jes started LSS in the first place. She wanted to help other small businesses with their branding, design and printing needs and make the process as simple, painless and FUN as possible!

Why good label design is important

If you are thinking of dipping your toe in the design waters of LSS, there are a couple of things you’ll need to have upfront for us:

↠ A list of your products that need label design. For example: candles; reed diffusers; and skincare.
↠ The width and height of your labels in mm
↠ The vinyl type you plan to print on
↠ Your logo file. And don’t worry, if you don’t have a logo yet please let us know – we can help you with this!

We will draw up a quote for you based on these facts and figures. Once your order is finalised, we will send you an invoice!

What will LSS ask me?

Once you have placed and paid for your order, this is where the fun begins! We will send you a Welcome Email, containing specially-tailored forms designed to help you tell us what you want – and what you DON’T want! – on your labels.

Some of the questions include:

↠ Choose from a range of colour palette genres
↠ Select which words best represent your brand and product
↠ Share examples of any other brands or labels that you admire
↠ List out all the text you would like on your labels

I’ve completed my forms - what happens next?

Once you complete your forms – simply send them back to us along with your logo, mock-ups or examples you have. Our team then reviews your forms and if we need any extra info, we will get in touch with you. Once we have all the necessary information, we start on your first label draft!

You will receive your first draft via email around 1-3 days after we receive your information. This is your opportunity to tell us what you love and what you don’t, what you want to keep, and what you’d like to change. You can give us as MUCH feedback as possible. Don’t be shy! From there we will send you your second draft. This process continues until we get your final approval. Then your label is ready to send to print!
