What is the name of your business? |
Steve Rogerson Woodcraft |
How long have you been trading? |
3 Months |
What products do you sell? |
Bespoke wooden boxes, boards, clocks, coasters and other wooden items |
What sells the best? |
Serving and Cutting Boards |
What markets do you trade at? |
Mornington Main Street, Red Hill, Portsea and Mount Martha Briars Market |
How did it all begin? |
I have just retired as a Technology and Art and Design Teacher and wanted to keep my practical and design skills operating. Set up our garage as a home workshop and started to manufacture wooden items for galleries and markets. |
What do you like most about being a stallholder? |
The best part of being a stall holder is meeting new people whether they are fellow stall holders or customers. |
What do you like least about being a stallholder? |
Physical work of setting up and packing up and the unpredictable weather |
Where do you see yourself in 5 years time? |
Still producing high quality small furniture items with perhaps a side business using a laser engraver and cutter. |
What one piece of advice would you give to a new stallholder? |
Try to find markets that suit the product you are selling. Craft items often sell best if you are part of a real makers and designers market where people come looking for bespoke, unusual and hand made products. |
